laptop+trying to reinstall

    I have been given an acer 780cx and problems with os ,so I decided to reinstall windows 98 se but the pcmcia card through which the cd rom is connected is not being picked up so has anyone any ideas how I might get round this as I have ran the driver install and that seems to work untill I reboot yours hopefully Rodger..

    Might be more than you want, but if push comes to shove you can buy a 40-44 pin converter, pull the laptop HD and do your install from another computer. Just make sure you pull the laptop HD before your final reboot during setup or else you'll wind up installing hardware and drivers for the machine being used instead of your laptop. Pop that puppy back in your laptop and finish the install. You can also copy your setup and cab files using this technique and do a full install from your laptop with no floppy or CDRom drive required.
