Hi, stereogames. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)

What brand and model number is your laptop?

What version of Windows XP are you using (Home, Professional, or Media Center)?

I'm guessing you made your settings in the "Power Options Properties" window. Correct? In the "Power scheme" section, perhaps you can try changing to something other than "Portable/Laptop ".

If playing with the settings there doesn't work, perhaps you will need to change a setting in your BIOS.

There are generally two Power Scheme on laptops for running on battery and running on AC Adaptor - have you set both as you want them?
