Please, please help me. I recently bought a new computer with windows XP and have tried to install my Kodak CX7310 camera and printer dock to it. The original software loaded but would not open so I went on the Kodak website and downloaded the lastest version however this won't even install after restart.

I have tried using the camera and scanner wizard on windows directly with the camera but it just comes up with a message saying required file 'DcCam.sys which doesn't appear to be on my computer.

I have tried every troubleshooting option I can think of and have search the web for a solution (obviously to no avail). I'm at the end of my tether, please help:(

Kathy - Welcome to the Board :)

I'm not familiar with the Kodak software, but I would uninstall all references to Kodak via Add/Remove Programs, download the software again (possibly a corrupt download) and try a re-install.

I cannot imagine that the software is not compatible with XP, but worth checking.

Search the Board for references to Kodak and something of use may come up.

I have a similar, but older model Kodak. You don't need to install any software to make your camera communicate with the computer. Just connect the cable to a USB port after you have the computer running, and it will recognize the camera as a disk drive and show the contents, i.e. pictures in windows explorer if you highlight the drive and click on view, thumbnails.
Be sure to drag and drop any pics you wish to save into a folder on the computer's disk drive. And once they're there you can resize, edit, crop and perform any process you like on them with any software. I don't even have Kodak's software installed because it's too primitive.

I have found the Kodak software problematical. We have it at work and I uninstall it if I find problems with a computer that has it. If you do need to run it, at least try to stop it loading at startup (usually located in the Tools -> Options menu) and just run it from the Start -> All Programs list.

For problems with installing, check if you need to update the Windows installer:

Same here, I have a Kodak camera and omitted the Kodak software almost immediately. XP with service pak 2 recognizes the camera, no need to install Kodak drivers.
