My computer recently crashed. I was able to go into dos and use scanreg/restore. Now I can boot up and use all functions but as soon as I try to type in a letter my systen freezes.

It does it if I type in a the 'find' feild, the 'run' field, in Word or even if I try "cont+alt+del "

Is my keyboard shot or am I missing a .dll file or something?

I've tried updating my drivers with no luck.

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

I might wonder about malware, like a keylogger, being installed. Try booting into Safe Mode and doing the keystrokes there.

    Try using another keyboard.

If there was any special software supplied with the keyboard, you may need to reinstall it (and actually, uninstall and reinstall might be better).

    Matt

I could be wrong here, but this may have come up as a problem for the reason Scanregw.Exe not being in the startup. As a result of this your registry backups are way out of date.
