While using Word 2000, I recently have been getting a message that 'winword has caused a problem in Kernel32.dll and will now shut down'.

When I click OK, Word shuts down, and I loose all the work I have done.

I have heard that one cause can be a damaged swap file, and that I should delete it, and let it rebuild itself on start-up.

Anyone else had this problem and are there any other suggestions?

    Thanks

I have a very similar problem right now with my internet explorer, Ie has caused an error in kernel32.dll or <unknown>, etc and will now shut down. I can't even open up IE without this message popping up. It seems like this is a very common error but I'm no expert on this stuff by far.
