My Java upgraded to version 5 (from 1.4.07). Both are now installed on the computer. Can I just leave this alone or do I need to uninstall the older version? Thanks.

    Hi James

the advice is to uninstall the old version first - sorry for giving you the extra work :(

I got it wrong too, back in November

NB when you uninstall it doesn't clear out the cache of applets you have built up. You may wish to so that yourself - have a look at the other threads about Java posted recently

    best wishes, HJ

    James,

To add to Hugh's exellent advice, after you uninstall both versions, then reboot your PC, so the system can update system files. Then reinstall Version 5.0/1.5.0.
