    Hi
My IE5.5 automatically fires up a string of full-screen advertisements when I leave it minised... and it is always groups of ads. It happens every hour!!

I scan thru my Registry and Startup menu, but found no entry.

Anyone has any idea where the setting is hidden within my system?

    Thanks for any guide!

What URL is IE displaying when you minimize it ?, it could be that webpage that is generating the popup adverts
    .
You can get round this by choosing a blank page for your default webpage and minimizing that page.

    Hi

This group of ads just fire-up randomly, no matter which site I'm in. Most of the time, I'm in my Intranet, in-house developed website without any ads.

I believe there must be some setting hidden somewhere within my IE or W98 registry which will trigger the auto-loading of such sites at certain interval.

The sites shown includes www.traffic4sure.com, fastseeker.net, etc.

    Thanks.

You may have some type of adware on your computer, phoning home and delivering these "important messages from a sponsor ". Download a copy of Ad aware.

Ad-aware for sure. Wouldn't be without it and have it running in auto mode daily on my PCs with instructions to destroy anything it finds.

If there are chronic offenders among the sites giving you pop-ups, you can just add them to your list of restricted sites (tools~internet options~security~etc.

    For instance, an entry
    *.fastseeker.net
and you would never see any from that place again.
