Can you move stuff around within the case? Can you disable things like COM ports that you probably aren't using? Are there any IRQs open right now? If you knew what was available, you can probably assign a given slot an IRQ, though this is not recommended!!

    I have 8 devices on irq 7

    Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
    Creative SB Live! (WDM)
    HPT370 UDMA/ATA100 Raid Controller
Netgear FA310TX Fast Eathernet Adapter (DC21x4)
    NVIDIA GeForce Ti 4600
TI OHCI Complient IEEE 1394 Host Controler
    Via USB Universal Host Controller
    Via USB Universal Host Controller

I have an ABit KT7A-RAID, AMD XP 1700+, and 1 Gb ram. I recently upgraded the CPU and Graphics card. I used to have an AMD TB 1000 and an ASUS 7700 GeForce 2. I flashed to the newest motherboard bios for the cpu. I have installed the newest video drivers and the newest Via 4 in 1 chipset drivers. I now have problems when I play 3D games such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Everquest. I get program errors and can get back into 2000. I have had driver pool has corrupted something(couldn't read fast enuf) errors where 2000 rebooted and Ihave locked 2000 solid and had to reboot. The sometimes after these errors I get other errors while trying to reboot 2000.

    Anyone got any suggestions??

    IRQ's & freezing

I don't know if much of this applys to these posts but a few things I've learned:
    1. Generaly speaking letting W2K handle of the IRQ's works fine
but it should be enabled in your BIOS on install and don't go
switching it back and forth. Also your power supply should be
    recent enough to support ACPI.
    2. On AMD be sure you have installed the patches for AGP.
Sometimes they need to be reinstalled.
    3. I've corrected several freezing issues by making sure the
PCI slot next to the AGP slot is empty.
It is strange seeing everything on one IRQ.

    Install using Standard PC.

When you get the prompt to press F6 if you need to install raid drivers (and you have to be attentive and quick) press F5 instead. There will be a menu of items, select Standard PC and your BIOS will assign the IRQ's instead of allowing 2k to do so. You will have to enable the power management function in or near your device manager, so the computer will turn itself off.

    good luck
