When my Son and a friend play XBox Live with two XBox's I can't access the internet with my desktop computer. Error message indicates an IP address conflict. My Son's friend is getting the same address as my computer. We use a Netgear router. I use XP Home with SP3. How can I change my IP address so when the other XBox is connected I don't have a conflict?

Set you XP comp with a static IP address.
To configure TCP/IP for static addressing...

If your current IP address is 192.168.1.x then set the static address to 192.168.1.15. Set subnet to 255.255.255.0. Set gateway address to 192.168.1.1.

If your current IP address is 192.168.0.x then set the static address to 192.168.0.15. Set subnet to 255.255.255.0. Set gateway address to 192.168.0.1.

Then go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > double click DHCP Client > set to stopped & disabled.

If you use DHCP to get IP's, you shouldn't be getting these error messages. Try Tony's suggestion or access your Netgear router & increase the range of LAN IP's [it would be something like Start IP xx.xx.xx.xx End IP yy.yy.yy.yy] Increase the End IP no. to something like yy.yy.yy.yy+5.
