I'm using Norton Internet Security and I have something in the history which has me baffled.

I clicked on a link from a google search and immediately got a warning that an intrusion attempt was blocked and when I checked the history I saw that Norton had also blocked a return intrusion by my computer.

The first intrusion was labelled as 'Http Fake Codec Webpage' risk and then the return attempt was labelled as a 'Http Fake Codec Request' risk

    Can anyone explain this?

It was what it says an Intrusion attempt! Attempt because Norton did it's job (this time)!

    So nothing to worry about.

For a second and third opinion I would run Spybot and Adaware2008!

And if severe issues found then post into our "Removing Virus's and Malware forum "!

Thanks for the quick response. I understand that an intrusion attempt was made on my computer but why does it say my computer tried to make an intrusion attempt??

Yeah I did not catch that!

This was a Audio/Video Codac (for playing music and Videos) that malware can attach and use! Perhaps you already had one on your HD!

    So lets to some checking.

    D/L Xclean_Micro

    http://www.xblock.com/download/xclean_micro.exe

No install, run it delete all it finds decline to reboot on each item found, until the program finishes then reboot.

It will pop up any baddies found. It will run and exit if it finds nothing!

Get the below install and update then run then post log

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

If it found much then reboot to Safe Mode and run it again then paste s new log for this run when back to normal mode!

Hey. Thanks again Mike. I have actually posted on the Removing Malware Forum for what i thought was an unrelated issue. I guess I should keep the problem there - don't want to be double posting.

    Thanks for you help.
