Hello, I am a Windows XP user on one computer and a Windows 98 user on another computer of mine.

For some reason, on my Windows 98 computer, the Internet does not work all the time.

I tried changing the NIC, or the Network card, but that did not work. I'm considering re-installing WIndows 98 Second Edition on it, but I hope I don't have to.

I also tried re-connected the Ethernet cord from the computer and to the Ethernet switch. That did not work, either.

So is anything else I can try? Perhaps something else?

I take it that you have the 98 machine accessing the internet through a network from the XP machine. I am moving this to networking to get a better response.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete the Winsock and Winsock2 entries then remove and reload TCP/IP.
