I was helping a friend download and install Juno Speedband on a fairly new Dell 4600 and somehow during the process I must have disabled Internet Explorer. I had used IE to download a couple of the Juno applications. When I click on IE, I get the hourglass for a few seconds and then nothing. Same result whether I use a shortcout or one of the entries in the Start menu. It would appear that IE needs to be reinstalled. Am I on the right track and what is the simplest way to accomplish that?

virginia--I assume you are using a shortcut to try to open IE. What do you see in the Target line when you right click on the Shortcut|Properties|Shortcut tab? You should see "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" . If not change to that.
If you do see that, find iexplore.exe on the PC and create a new shortcut.) Right click on iexplore.exe|Create Shortcut and move it to some place convenient, such as Desktop.) Does that work?
If not, you will probably have to Repair IE. The info for WinXP is at the bottom of this article
    http://help.att.net/docs/howto/othe...ustomercontent=customer_browser&platform=none
You will see alternative procedures. (In the first you should be aware that you will probably be asked to insert the WinXP CD. And you may have to click on Retry many times.) See if the first works, and if not, then try the second.
If still no success, you may have to do a System Restore to a date before installing Juno. If IE works then, you will, of course, have to reinstall Juno. It is possible Juno is what is messing things up. Did you install Juno with all programs including IE (and antivirus) closed?
Please post back if you need more suggestions.

Thanks for the input. I was able to get things back into operation but only after the System Restore. The repair procedure did ask for the XP SP2 disc which he didn't have. He had all the app discs that came with the computer but only had a goofy looking fake disc that had a statement that there was no Windows XP disc that came with the computer. I had my XP SP2 disc which I used and it appeared to find the needed files and install but still wouldn't open IE.

I finally did a system restore but I had to go back to November 12th for the latest restore point. No - I didn't create a restore point before I started - shame on me. I now have the machine configured to do the automatic restore every day. Luckily, he hadn't made many changes since the 12th. Reinstalled Juno and all appears to be working well now. Again, thanks.

virginia--Thanks for posting back. That is quite a saga, but I am glad things are now working.
