For some reason lately my IE has been hanging up a lot. I used to be able to go to the Control Panel..........add/remove programs, and click on IE 6.0 and have it "repair" it's self. Now it is not even listed in with the other software in add/remove programs, so I don't know how to ask IE to repair it's self.

Is there some way I can do this in another manner?

Which OS are you using? Sounds like Win 98 - please confirm.

Have you upgraded/moved on to XP recently? In XP Internet Explorer is not found in Add/Remove Programs and a Repair is somewhat different from the method used in Win 98, etc.

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP

The first stage - often the only stage required is to run System File Checker ....

Start > Run > sfc /scannow - note the space and have your XP CD handy. System File Checker will run and exit without any closing dialogue. To see which files, if any, have been replaced look in Event Viewer.

    Thanks

Thank you for reminding me of SFC.

Windows XP came already installed on this computer
    (Compaq 6420NX)

I had Windows 98SE on my earlier computer, and using SFC was the first thing I would do when I began having any kind of problem. That often helped solve it. But since I've had this new computer, I seemed to have forgotten to use SFC. Probably because problems occur so seldomly as compared to 98SE...........LOL

    Thank you for your help.
