    In Internet Explorer 6 I had to use a Proxy for my ISP while I was connected via a dial-up modem. A couple of weeks ago I changed to broadband. My ISP advised to disable the Proxy settings in order to make the new connection work. Everything works fine however, the problem I have now is that when I disable the Proxy settings, every time I reboot the computer the proxy settings are enabled again, both in the dial-up settings window as well as in the LAN settings window.
    I am running Windows 98 on a P III 500 with 256 K. The automatic configuration settings are all disabled.
    Can someone please help me??

    Restart the computer in Safe Mode, and change the proxy settings. Now restart normally, and the change will be retained.
