    Hello all,
Somewhat of a newbie when it comes to installing hardware. I have just purchased new computer with XP Home Edition. I have attempted to use a Sony Video camera with computer, but have been unable to install hardware correctly.

I install the drivers off of the CD that came with camera, then it says to connect USB. Windows recognizes new hardware to be installed, it gives a warning. If I click continue anyway, the computer reboots itself. Nothing gets installed. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

    Thanks.

Maybe the system has to be restarted to get the drivers installed correctly then after the computer restarts put the camera into the USB port.

    What does the warning say?

Just wondering. If the video camera is using USB, of the ones I looked at they need USB version 2.0, does your system have USB 2.0 ports. I known you can use USB version 1 hardware in USB version 2 ports but I don't known if you can do it the other way around and have it work right.

Thanks for the replies...after trying over and over again, it finally installed correctly...I have no idea why as I did nothing different on the times when my computer would just reboot...it's working now. Thanks.
