    Hi Guys

I have a BE there internet router.

Was wondering to set up a windows 2008 server. Install microsofts ISA server think its threat gateway manager or something now as a proxy.

What my aim/plan is ALL laptops and desktops that connect via wireless or cable, go via proxy. So all website activity is logged.

With this set up, if a wireless connects to the router does that mean it will just go thorugh to internet and wont need access to the server? as in say i have laptop, ill connect it wirelessly to the router, would it just go out to internet or can i set up router so that it goes to server first then to internet?

    any ideas welcome...

If you don't have a Win server already installed, save yourself headaches and cost & go the Linux/Open Software way.

Untangle & Smoothwall Express are two of many firewall/proxies available.

Install 2 network cards in the computer, load either of the above two distros and connect your internet connection to the firewall [red interface] & set it up so that all the computers go through this firewall for internet [green interface].

It doesn't matter whether the connection is wired or wirelss as long as your wifi is connected to the green interface.

    I second the above post.

FYI, the similar setup using 2 NICs would be needed if use Windows server.
