I have downloaded the following .msi file; Acer Iconia Tab Driver Install .msi.
It is a file >14 Mbits.

I have Windows XP Home SP3, and clicking on the .msi file is ineffective.
How do I install this Windows Installer Package? I have not been able to find understandable instructions.

    Thank you for your help

Mark, Thank you for your advice which I have followed. I have not been successful in opening my .msi file. It seems I get stuck when I try to open C:\Acer Tablet\Windows XP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe I get told this is not a valid win-32 application. Can you suggest what I might be doing wrong? Thank you

Hi David. What browser are you using to download the file?

Acer Iconia is an Android tab, so you may want to tell us what driver this is?

    Evan,
Thank you for your attention. The browser I use is I think called: Windows internet explorer provided by Yahoo!

    Arie,
I am sorry I do not know how to find out what the driver is for an Android tab. But I would be pleased to learn how. Thank you.

Do you have another browser that you can try downloading the file from such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome?

Another member pointed out that the Acer Iconia Tab W series is a Windows (7) tab.

But still my point is: what are you trying to install and where? If you are not running this tab, you don't have any need for the drivers.

Thank you for your continued interest. The reason I have not answered sooner is complete frustration.
I have downloaded Firefox which did not help.
Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable led me to Windows XP (KB942288-V3) which seemed to go round in circles with a hot fix which got me nowhere.
so that I could not install the file.
Acer Iconia Tab Driver Install.msi says it successfully installed it to Prgram files but it simply does not.
I have encountered several other error messages.

I fear this is all too complicated; I am prepared to start again if you think it would help.
All I want to do is to install Acer Iconia Tab Driver Install .msi on my desk top so that I can communicate with the files on my recently acqired Acer A200 tablet.
I would be very grateful for advice. Thank you

And you are trying to install Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable on a system running Windows XP? SP2 or SP3?

I have NO idea where you got "Acer Iconia Tab Driver Install .msi " from, but I suggest you have a look at the manual (if you don't have one, download it from Acer). The only thing needed to connect your tablet to your PC is a USB cable. Your tablet will show as a USB storage device.

Yes I am trying to install Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable on my desk top equipped with Windows XP Home SP3.
I think I got Acer Iconia Tab Driver Install .msi from the Acer site. The problem seems to me to be the inability to install .msi files.
Again thank you for your help

    Well, as I said above:

    You don't need a driver.

I am sorry, I should have said I have read the manual several times, and I have connected the USB cable to the tablet several times but I can see no display of a USB storage device. Perhaps mistakenly I believe the trouble to be my inability to install the MSI file onto my desktop; so I will continue to struggle with this problem. Again thank you for your help.

You should check the USB ports of your desktop computer to see if they are functioning, check the USB cable you are using. That's about all that's left to check.
