install oem windows 7

I want to update my windows vista. I installed an inquiry file that said my pc is ok to run windows 7. I bought a Windows 7 online from Walmart and it's an oem version for a new computer. (home ver) Can I install it over my Vista? Do I have to delete everything and then install it? Do you need to have more info?

Thanks for the info. The installation went nicely. I did back up my photos, which wasn't necessary, but I wish I had backed up files I saved in windows email. Some, but not all, got picked up in livemail. There's supposed to be a windows.old file, but it isn't there. I assume it was for docs and such that didn't need special saving.

You may want to consider to start storing things you don't want to lose out on the 'net, (in the 'cloud'). That way, some kind of computer disaster simply won't matter as much. Another nice thing about it is, wherever you go, if you have 'net access, there's all your stuff.
