I have come across a few sites where the page will not completely download in Firefox. It seems to be an image file as if I uncheck the load images box, the page does a complete download (except of course for the images). If I check the load image box, the page stalls at a particular file and does not completely download (this seems to be an image file at the originating site as if I check the box to download images form the originating site only, I get the same problem).

If I download the page using Internet Explorer, I get a full download so the site itself appears to be working.

Yeah, I get this too. Refreshing is an annoying workaround, and I haven't yet found a setting which fixes the problem. I suspect it is one of the pipe settings in about:config.

Refreshing (reloading) isn't a solution as the same logjam occurs in the reload.

    Hi Ramona,

I'm having the same problem with FF on several web sites, and none of the tips have done any good. As an example, I print off the Times crossword every morning, automatically logged in by FF, select the puzzle of the day, the image of which appears immediately. The progress bar indicates that the page is approximately 95% loaded so I click on the 'Print' button, and then wait!
Refreshing does no good, and sometimes I have to wait two or three minutes before the printer window appears. sometimes it just doesn't appear at all.
I now use IE 7 in the morning to get an instant print out!
IE loads all the problem pages normally and with only the required delay by some web sites.
I had hoped that FF 2 would end this ongoing saga, but no such luck!
Incidentally, some of the selections available in earlier FF's, such as in 'Load images' the 'For originating site only' have gone. Why is this?

    Roger:confused:

    Roger,

The setting you want is located here:
    Tools | Options | Content
    Enable: Load images automatically
Then click on the "Exceptions" tab
There you can add the link for the crossword puzzle.

Let us know whether or not this helps with your problem.

    Hi Ramona,
Sorry, that didn't make any difference, in fact it was already selected. I tried again this morning, but gave up after about five minutes and went back to IE7. The really annoying thing is that the crossword grid, the image, loads almost immediately in FF but the loading indicating keeps on turning, and the progress bar sticks at about 90/95%.
It is all very rapid in IE.

    Roger:(

    Hi Ramona,

Thanks for the link but all those tips refer to pages not loading at all I think, but my problem pages are loading at least 95%. FF has thrown another paddy today! Google in FF tells me that my browser does not accept cookies, which is rubbish, so I am unable to access google.com, the URL in the address bar changes to google.fr, and google refuses to acknowledge that my search preferences are for an English interface, and search results also in English.
FF does this from time to time, and I expect that tomorrow google will be back in English. Even though I sometimes work in French, I generally prefer English, so this fault is very annoying so it's back to IE!

    Roger,

I'm sorry to hear that your problems still exist, and that you are going back to IE! Could you give us some other problematic links where you don't have to pay in order to gain access? Thanks!

Try creating a new Profile, and see if that has any effect on the complete loading of pages. Don't move any of your personal data, and if it makes no difference, then delete the new Profile. A new Profile is often the cure for many evils!

    Hi Ramona,
FF is still reluctant to fully load some pages, notably www.timesonline.co.uk, the crossword pages, and this continues after the actual images are fully loaded.
Now, using FF, Google suddenly starts only loading its searches in French again, and tells me that 'Apparamment votre navigateur n'accepte pas les cookies" so that I cannot reset my preferences to English. When I enter the URL www.google.com Firefox changes it to google.fr. Where in FF is the gimmick that can do this? Cookies are enabled and work OK most of the time.

How can I delete all the FF files from my machine, including any profile, before re-installing?
Fortunately IE 7 works with no problems!

    Roger,

I can't test the Times puzzle as it is a "pay for" page. If this is this the only page, then I would think it was the site, and not Firefox.

The setting in Firefox for Languages:
    Tools | Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom of the window
Click on the "Choose" tab under Languages
If you want to use English then move it to the top of the list.

Next, I would remove the cookie for Google, close Firefox then reset the Google cookie.

To do a "clean" install of Firefox:

    Remove Firefox using Add/Remove
Delete the Mozilla Firefox folder located here:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Remove the Mozilla folder located here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla
(Assuming you have no other Mozilla programs )

Use a Registry Cleaner to remove all Firefox Registry Keys

    REBOOT YOUR PC

    Install Firefox again

    Hi Ramona,
Thanks for your patience, FF finally seems to be working OK - fingers crossed!
The Mozilla Firefox file refused to be removed so I had to use Move On Boot to get rid of it. I removed FF using Add/Remove, deleted all temp internet files and cookies, and cleaned the registry. Downloaded and installed FF2.0 RC3 and all the old favourites turned up again, with Google reverting to French again!

Repeated the whole process, and this time I removed all Google files and cookies which had returned. Success!

    Thanks again,
    Roger:)
