Hi, IE7 works perfectly in the account I installed it from but all other accounts, including the administrator account, are having problems.

On the first run in these accounts the "Settings" page freezes with an error and a blank screen. I found a fix to this by editing the "RunOnceHasShown" and "RunOnceHasComplete" keys. This appeared to fix the problem but on certain pages they would freeze with a script error or on mostly Microsoft pages they would be incomplete. I also found that if I clicked "User Accounts" in Control panel it would freeze again with a script error which was blank except for the titles.

I was wondering if anyone has come across this scenario before and whether you know how to fix it.

    Thanks.

I am not sure why you modified the RunOnce keys. Better would have been to install IE 7, logon, logoff, logon, logoff so that any RunOnce entries would be cleared of their own necessity.

In any case, you are missing the registration for java and vbsript (my guess):

    Start, Run, regsvr32 jscript.dll
    Start, Run, regsvr32 vbscript.dll

I would take this opportunity to refresh & update the Windows Scripting Host software:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=C717D943-7E4B-4622-86EB-95A22B832CAA

    If no joy:

    1. Click Start, Run
    2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
    3. Locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID\{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\In procServer32
The (Default) value data should contain the following value:
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JSCRIPT.DLL
If it does not, double-click Default, type C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JSCRIPT.DLL in the Value data box, and then click OK.
    4. The ThreadingModel value data should contain the following value:
    Both
If it does not, double-click ThreadingModel, and then type Both in the Value data box.
    5. Locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID\{f414c261-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbbb58}\In procServer32
    6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to edit this key, and then go to step 7.
    7. Locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID\{f414c262-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbbb58}\In procServer32
    8. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to edit this key, and then go to step 9.
    9. Exit Registry Editor.

Hi, thanks for your reply and suggestions.

I carried out all of your instructions but unfortunately they did not solve the problem.

The reason I edited the registry was that it did not matter how many times I logged on and off the settings page would not clear. I found other people had the same problem and that was the solution given.

I would welcome any further suggestions you may have as I really do not like to have a corrupted Admin account.

    Thanks again for your help.

Hi, sorry I forgot to say that the only problem I had following your instructions was that when I updated the Windows Scripting Host software I got an error, "When registering OCX C:\WINDOWS\SYstem32\scrrun.dll ". I tried registering it manually but was only successful in my account which it seems is the account registered with Microsoft for validation purposes.

Hi, when I went back to my account I found that was having problems, like the other account.

I decided to uninstall IE7 which has corrected these problems in the past but this time it did not. I thought I'd do a restore to before I started this morning but the restore page was having the same problem as User Accounts in Control panel, i.e. a blank page. Luckily I have Erunt installed and I used that to restore and I'm back to where I was.

I have decided to wait maybe six months while Microsoft sort out the bugs in IE7 before reinstalling it.

    Thanks again for your help.:)
