The problem manifests in many ways:
    - when in Gmail, I have to sign in twice. I login once, and the screen refreshes. Then I login again and it works normally.
    - Gmail announces at the top of my screen "Your browser's cache is full and may interfere with your Gmail experience." More on that later.
    - Gmail lets me check and send mail, but when I try to send an attachment it says that I'm logged out and need to log back in.
    - Facebook is similar - I log in as normal and can receive content, but when I try to take actions, like confirming a new friend or deleting an event notifier, it says that I'm logged out and need to be logged in in order to do that.

When Gmail tells me my cache is full, it gives a link to Microsoft.com about how to fix it. I followed these instructions to the letter and it didn't help (could it have made things worse?):

    WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, move your Temporary Internet Files folder to another location, delete the old folder, and then (if you want to) move your Temporary Internet Files folder back to the original location:
    1. In either My Computer or Windows Explorer, create a new folder.
    2. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
    3. On the General tab, click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.
    4. In the Settings dialog box, click Move Folder under Temporary Internet Files folder.
    5. Click the folder that you created in step 1, and then click OK.
    6. If you are prompted to log off, click Yes, and then log on to Windows again. If you are not prompted to log off, click OK to close all of the dialog boxes.
    7. In either My Computer or Windows Explorer, delete the old Temporary Internet Files folder, and then create a new folder in the same location with the same name.

Repeat steps two through six again, but in step five, click to select the new folder that you created in step seven
    --------------------
For the record, I also have almost 3GB free on C.

    Your help is appreciated.

I see you have posted the same problem on another forum .....

    http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/745418-ie7-browser-cache-full-problem.html

We really cannot work on a problem on this basis - we have no idea what other suggestions may have been made or what actions you have taken as a result of those suggestions. In other words we are working in the dark and, as volunteers working the Board in our spare time, could be wasting out time.

No doubt you have Googled .....

Have you tried Resolutions #1 & #3 here.

Google may be your friend, but sometimes it can be your downfall too :)

This problem is occurring on my son's PC. Once he has tested it I will share the results.

I have not received any response from the other board--yet. WindowsBBS is usually the best source for assistance (as you have proven at least so far), but as you can appreciate, like open source, chat board(s) are collaborative efforts and seeking assistance from more than one place (so long as one coordinates, informs about and shares responses) is reasonable. This is the first time I have been told this is bad protocol. I may change my approach in the future if this is the consensus.

    Thank you for your assistance.

Seeking assistance from more than one place is okay as long as you tell us that you have sought assistance on other places too & give us their urls & summary of updates on these places.

I think what PeteC means that all of us may be giving you the same steps/advice that you may have already received somewhere else, wasting your as well as ours time.

Once we know what you have been advised & what you have already done, we can bypass those steps or start thinking in some other direction.

Sorry, we'll have to close this one out without a clear answer. My son went back to his PC after being away for a few days and the Gmail problems did not repeat. (He further buried this problem by switching from IE to Firefox more recently too.)

Thanks for the contributions to this thread.
