IE6 Java Not Working

I've recently downloaded and installed MS Java Machine on an XP system to accomodate a necessary job function. For the first few sessions the scripts were working fine. Now I get a blank popup whenever java is queued. I've adjusted all the appropriate permissions / security / etc. and get the same error every time. Reinstalling JVM makes no difference, either. No anti-popup installed either. My next step is to try to reinstall IE6 to its original XP Upgrade state, but would welcome any other suggestions. Thanks!
