I am having a problem with real player opening temp files under IE. If I click on a "ram" file, IE passes control to the real player which displays the message:

file://C:/windows/Temporary Internet Files "/..../..../file[1].ram could not be found.

If I save the ram file to the desktop and double-click the icon it real player streams the file just fine.

If I use Netscape or Mozilla to start playing the file, it works fine.

I'm wondering if the "[ ","]" characters in the file name are the problem.

Tried both Win 98SE and Win XP.

Problem turned out to be the http server "g-zipping" the files before serving them.

98 usually gives a warning about running a system command [double clicking] on files stored on the Temp IE folder. Then when you copied to the desktop, this was eliminated.
