I'm using IE 6 with XP and High Speed Internet connection. Up until recently I only had to click on the IE Icon and I'd be connected automatically to IE Home web site (or which ever site I select)

Now, clicking on the IE Icon takes me to a blank IE Home web site
and freezes - no automatic internet connection. I then have to go back and click on my internet connection icon before being able to proceed.

How can I get back to automatically connecting to the net by clicking on the IE icon ????? any help would be appreciated
    appreciated:confused:

Have you tried a repair of IE6?

Is the Home Page under internet options still correct?

If you open a cmd window (before messing with IE) and ping your ISP, do you get a reasonable response?

And while you have cmd open, try the following command followed by <ENTER>

    ipconfig /flushdns

You didn't say what kind of high-speed connection you have, but it is not apparently "always on ".
Try Control panel, Internet Options, Connections tab. Is the correct box checked (such as "Always Dial My Default Connection ")? Is the correct connection set as default?

reknaw - since IE is now basically a part of the XP OS, you have to do a repair of all the system protected files. Other systems will get a repair option if they go to add/remove and click on IE but it just isn't there with XP. Maybe if IE6.5 or IE7 is released it will be.

    start~run~Sfc /scannow will do it.
