I've currenlty have ie 5.5sp2 and tried to upgrade to ie6 sp1 off of microsofts website. The upgrade starts then stops around 13%. It doesn't do anything for 10 minutes so I've canceled out of the upgrade.
NOW, when I launch IE5.5 the webpages I go to don't load, but when I stop and refresh, they come up.
I've disabled my antivirus during the upgrade and still get the problem. I've already reformatted the drive and re installed the WIndows 2000 Pro OS, 5.5 works great till the upgrade attempt.
My other browers work fine (Mozilla).

Is there a way to un install IE so that I can re install it.??
How can I get IE 6 to work??

    Help

Not without a great degree of difficulty, but you should be able to Repair your installation of 5.5 through Add/Remove Programs - selecting Remove brings up a dialogue box with a Repair option. I am assuming that this option is available in W2k.
Look at this thread for options to download IE 6 to your hard drive for installation at your convenience http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24499

Yes please do the repair first then download for later install
and maybe install even while in safe mode

,, with your os(like I know anything about it) prabaly wont have the MS IE repair in addremove programs ,, But you can still get to it , this way BUT very important. see below *

Click Start, and then click Run.
For Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 and earlier, in the Open box, type the following command (the command is case sensitive), and then click OK (Hint copy paste works great) and leave the quotes.

    rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt "

    * if in addremove its not there , dont do anything other than repair with this run command,, there probaly dimmed out anyway.

    Regards
    Lonny
