    Ie 6 Ps1

I've downloaded the SP1 update to IE 6. But I had a system crash during the install. Now, IE says I have SP1 but the update page thinks I don't. Everytime I try to re-download SP1, it goes thru the install process and complains that it cannot update many of the products which causes the update page to remain thinking I need SP1. How do I re-install SP1 from scratch so that the update page will reflect the correct configuration?

Have you tried Control Panel>Add/Remove select MSIE6 and do the revert to previous or add a componet or Repair option?

If you can revert to IE6, maybe you can DL SP1 again and install?

There is a more drastic option involving using a third party program to uninstall IE and then reinstall from scratch. Just keep in mind if nothing else works.

I've tried add a component and I've tried the repair option. I haven't tried removing IE6 because it doesn't appear to know that I have downloaded SP1 and I don't want to get into a state where I don't have an IE.

I take it you have not tried reverting to the previous version.
It seems you only have two choices.

    1) Revert to previous and then redo the sp1.

    2) Remove IE and reinstall IE and sp1.

    Your Box, your choice.

I assume you have done the basics, you know, dumping temp files and temp internet files, scandisk, defrag.

Were any of the installs done on-line ? ( my guess is Yes. )

If so it is VERY easy to get messed up.

You may have to got to the Update site and do a custom install, DOWNLOAD only to your HD, Then do a COMPLETE re-install of IE from the files on the HD.

The SP1 should be Ok do do this with.

Any little glitch ( or in your case crash ) can completely tear up an online install of anything not just IE.
