I am running on windows 98se. Recently i purchased and installed a raedeon9000 video card and Return of the king game. Ever since installing these two I have had a problem with my internet explorer as in when I start too browse the web a few pages will work then it will not connect to any of the following pages.
I reboot the browser and it still will not connect even though I can still connect to things like yahoo messenger.

I end up having to reboot my machine which is annoying to say the least. Then after browsing a couple of pages the problem resurfaces.

I can ping website with about 52ms latancy so I am connected to the net. I have tried to repair the browser and reinstall but the same issue still arises.

I am running a nortons firewall, with EZ anti virus and EZ firewall( the ez fw is disabled) I also have run a nortons windoc which still did not find any errors.

Any thoughts? if you need more specs on my machine just ask

    Thank you.

Start with deleting the temporary internet files and cookies. Proceed by cleaning out spyware/adware/malware with both Spybot and Ad-aware. Tutorials and downloads available here. Strange things can happen when you get some of this junk on board. If you're still experiencing problems after that, we'll explore other avenues. :)

I forgot to post earlier that I had already done all that. With ad aware etc. I only had three tracer cookies.

Anyways I think I got to the root of the problem. It was the EZ piece of rubbish. I am never using that trash again. I have never used such a horrible FW/AV as that.

I had to scanreg/restore from the day before to get the block off the IE and uninstall the whole thing.

I am now back with Nortons fully :D

Sorry to hear you had a poor experience with eTrust. Perhaps if you had first uninstalled Norton, as I'm sure you were prompted to do when installing eTrust, it would have worked as designed, which is quite well. It's not recommended, ever, to install 2 AV/Firewall packages. They often conflict and as you noticed, the results are not welcome. Glad things are working Ok for you again though. Thanks for posting back. :)

FWIW, you will find several VERY satisfied users of eTrust on this board! Me being one of them. :D

I did not have two anti virus packages as I know the conflicts it would cause. My firewalls were EZ and Nortons

My Anti Virus was EZ which I have now took off.

As the EZ software has caused no end of conflicts since I first installed it 3 months ago. I dont run windows desktop, I run on a aston shell and it constantly made the aston go illegal when shutting down. Now with it removed my comp it still yet to go illegal.

Nortons has never done any of that to my comp.

Thanks for posting back with the added info. Think I'll dig around the CA site and see if there are known conflicts with the aston shell, and if there are any fixes or planned fixes. :)

Sorry for putting down EZ the way I did. Just I have had no end of problems since it was first installed and it has left me to say the least a little frazzled.

I know Aston shell is not well known but is alot better then the normal windows desktop. Which I really did not want to go back too. I had nortons so I decided to go back to it, as it does not cause any issues and runs well with the aston.
