Is it possible to connect a Windows 98se machine with a Mac through ICS?
As an alternative which is the best way to do it with a crosscable?
    Thanks to any help.

To share files/folders/printers or to share an internet connection?

    What MAC OS version?

I know next to nothing about MACs but from what little I know I can help with the internet piece.

    - with that OS version and ICS set up on 98, both PCs should be able to get to the internet. Just use the IP address of the 98 ICS host as the default gateway on the MAC and put it in the same network as the 98 PC (so if the ip address of the network card on 98 is 192.168.1.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 then any IP from 192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.254 is fine for the MAC and use the same subnet mask).

    - you will need a crossover cable to connect the MAC and 98 network cards.

As to sharing files/folders/printers, you will need to have 98 set up with File & Printer Sharing turned on and probably Clients for Microsoft Networking. You will also need something shared.

I know there is a way to have the MAC use the network shared stuff on 98 but have no clue about the specifics. Not sure if we have any MAC-literate folks on here but if not, any MAC forum should be able to give you details on doing that part.

I moved from the Apple-II I had at home to microsoft systems so anything I ever knew about Apples is a little out of date. :D
