IBM thinkpad windows 2000

    well trying to run recovery CD for this machine its a bootable
    recover disk but keep getting PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable.... Insert system diskette and press enter to reboot...
    and so on it goes and repeats the above,so any help would be
    great!! unfortunatly I don't have a copy of windows 2000 for this so am having to use recover CD to restore to factory settings..

    Possibilities: (assuming there isn't part of the message you didn't quote that speaks of another device than the CD or CD controller)

    1. BIOS - make sure the boot device sequence is set correctly.

    2. BIOS update.

    3. I have no other ideas.

    all ok as far as setup/bios that is but thanx fer reply,and now got as far as CDR101 not ready reading drive D so well thats it :confused:
