HP Laser Printer deteriorating

    This is a model LaserJet 6p. It is used daily, and has served us well. It has started exhibiting a shadowy vertical streak in the printout sheet. There appears to be more than one, and the predominant one is a little less than a 1/4" wide, but there are other fainter thinner ones to the right.
    Is this something that can be fixed by cleaning something, or is it something that requires a replacement of some part?
