Morning,,,Could someone help me find the file to save my Favorites on a floopy. I don't have that many so I think it will fit on a 1.44 floppy disk. I always have lost them upon doing Clean Installs. Funny how the basics of computing gets lost in everyday tasks by me Oh well,Thanks in advance,,Paul
    BTW,,I am using IE6.0

    Or.....

On your browser, go to the menu bar and select File>Import and Export

Click Next on the Import and Export Wizard

Choose Export Favorites, and click Next

With the "Favorites" folder highlighted (or if you want to be selective, just highlight only what you want to export), click Next again,

When you are asked for a destination, click on the Browse button, and select drive A:\ (have floppy in it) as the place where you want to save the Favorites. Click on Save.

On the following prompt the address where you want Favorites saved is identified as "A:\........, click Next, and then click Finish on the last prompt.

Take a look at your floppy, double click on the file.
    ;)

Or...... scroll down this page to a tiny app called Bookmark Wizard..and it will do it all for you. You can save to floppy.or it will make a handy dandy web page of your favourites. :)

You can also permanently move the C:\Windows\favorites to another partiton if you have same.

It just takes a Regedit/find for favoritites to make sure the references did get change.

    ie: from C:\Windows\Favorites to d:\Favorites.

The same can be done with My Documents. Regedit/find My Doc to check references.

There are not that many references for either in the Reg.

If you use Windows Explorer to move them it should also change the Registry. But you should check to make sure.

I have been working with the Start Menu but that has not proven successful yet.

??????? What is so hard about preserving usefull data ??????

By keeping the mention files on another partion they are ( unlike backups or exports ) always up to date and don't get lost on a re-format.

Even though export/import will work, unless you are very religious about maintaing same they may not be up to date.

Also both can be used by any version of Windows.

Why not just let them both be kept up to date by normal use ?

BTW, I also have them copied into a special folder on a 3rd partition. Along with the complete Start menu.
