I don't know that I can help. I DL'ed and installed with no problem. It did uninstall the quick time program I had installed before.

I will keep an eye on it and report back if any problems.

This would be a new install - don't have QuickTime or previous Alternative. Any potential problems with that?

Reading the site info - need an older Wmp to play QT web movies, is that right? I don't want to do that anyway, just want a off-line QT player, and this seems to fit the bill.

    Regards - Charles

No problems relating to operating system function with not having Quick Time. If you want to watch Quick Time videos, you'll have to have it or the alternative. Some games require Quick Time so it must be installed for them. If there is no need for Quick Time, I advise my customers to avoid it. Most of them end up installing it anyway...and then pay me to get rid of the annoying "Want to update/check for updates/visit our website/intrude into your every computing experience?" messages that seem to pop up when you just look at the QT icon. ;)

    Hi Miz,

Know what you mean - have QT on WinME, and "shut it down" a long time ago :)

Implicit in my question about the alternative player was whether I would have to make it behave, but I suspect that the answer is yes. Every piece of software nowadays seems have these annoying features.

    Hi Miz,

I just installed the QT alternative.

On the install, if custom, get a choice of leaving out plugins for non-IE browsers and leave out "check for codecs news and updates ". And that's true, no popups at all, no attempt at net access. So far, exactly what I wanted.

    Regards - Charles
