how remove Instant Messenger?

    Hello:
    I (like others ) have instant Messenger (came on computer).
    Since i do not use it, i would like to remove it.I went to "Add remove programs" and despite a tap "remove Windows programs" it does not show up.
    Please advise how i can remove it as i do not use it and it must take up some space on the hard drive.

    Remove Messenger from XP

    Start/Run/RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

    Stop Windows Messenger from Auto-Starting

    Simply delete the following Registry Key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\MSMSGS
