If you just want to network the two PCs, you won't need a hub. You can hook directly from network card to network card using a special cable - usually called a cross-over cable. It is wired a bit differently than a normal cable but anyone who sells networking stuff should have both. Radio Shack does.

You didn't say but do you have/want either or both to get to the internet?

The DCC (direct cable connection) will for sure work to network the two PCs. And the network cards and cable will be useful when you want to connect both to the internet.

Broadband (cable/dsl) or dial-up internet connection?

    Hi Newt,

I'm just gonna jump on this one if I may.

I will also be trying to achieve this soon, I have another PC that I will soon be hooking up to a network with ICS capability.

I run Windows 2000 Server and the other machine 2000 Pro, they both have NIC's and I've got the approriate cable. The ICS gateway is running Norton AntiVirus Firewall 2003 and the other nothing, what's the best way to set this up for secure networking and ICS??

The modem is an Speedtouch USB ADSL Modem(dialup)

    Many Thanks

    Justin

You only want the one firewall running and that on the ICS "host" computer. So I think you are in pretty good shape at this point.
