As far as I aware, I have configured my machine to clear the History files after 0 (zero) days, effectively clearing them overnight for all practical purposes.

Certainly, when I click the History icon in IE the 'old' data disappears.

However, if I attempt to enter a URL in the relevant box and start with, for example w, (for the ever-present www of course), the drop down box opens and presents me with a list of previously opened URL's, some of them actually several days/weeks old. The list is by no means fully detailed because many of the URL's I have visited do not appear, suggesting that there is some mechanism at work removing them.

Is there any way to clear this outdated information? I had, somewhat naively, assumed that these would be part of the History and would be cleared daily but is seems as if some URL's have got 'stuck'.

    TIA

I believe it is part of "Auto Complete" in Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Contents > Auto Complete.

The info is "auto complete" info.
You can clear ALL and start over by Tools->Options->Content tab->Auto Complete button.

Many thanks, I thought I had long ago cleared the Autocomplete options so long, in fact, that I had forgotten all about them!

Anyway - job done! Thanks again.
