Hi and welcome to WindowsBBS forums.

What, if any type of unusual symptoms are you experiencing? Can you also please let me know what Adaware and Spybot removed, in detail, but not any logs, we don't really use those, just the crucial things found.

You have currently installed to anti-spyware tools which are known as 'Rogue\Suspect'.

Thse should be removed at once. I'll also provide you some fixing, but I also need to know symptoms as requested above, along with other things removed.

Please follow these instructions, exactly, for proper HJT installation. Please place HJT into ITS OWN PERMANANT FOLDER. It also needs to be removed from the desktop.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT. (C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe)Move HijackThis.exe into this folder. When you run HijackThis.exe from C:\HJT folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary which is easily accessible.

Please go to 'Task Manager' by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Delete and 'End Task' on the following process(es):

Next please go to Add/Remove, and if found, uninstall the following:
WinAntiSpyware

WeatherBug\AWS <<<--not malware, but usually not installed by most users, comes bundled with AIM. If you elect to keep it, ignore any related fixes below.

Run Hijackthis and look over the following entries I have listed, check the boxes next to them and press the "Fix Checked" button with HijackThis. When you are doing this, make sure you have No IE windows, or other browsers open, including this one. Reboot if I have specified below, and post a fresh HijackThis log.

Reboot, into safe mode, this way:
Turn on the computer
Immediately begin tapping the <F8> key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the <Enter> key.

Also, enable the 'Show Hidden Folders' option, like this:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

And search for, then delete, if found, (some may not be present after previous steps) the following files/folders:
C:\Program Files\SystemDoctor 2006<<<<---folder
C:\Program Files\WinAntiSpyware 2006<<<<---folder
C:\Program Files\AWS<<<<---folder
C:\Program Files\Tiqy<<<<---folder

To exit Safe Mode, click the Start button, click Turn Off Computer, click Restart.

1 - Computer very slow booting up.
2 - Popup keeping very busy

Some of the items removed by SpyBot; CallingHome.biz, Zlob.Downloader, DKAndSuns Fake Security Toolbar, DyFuCA, eXact Advertising.BargainsBuddy, FunWeb, IsearchTech.PowerScan, MyWebSearch, Rotue, SpywareQuake, Vcodec, Vcodec.eMadia, WildTangent, Winsoftware.WinAntiSpyware2006, Winsoftware.AntiVirusPro2006.

Some of the items removed (quarintined) by AdAware: 25 or 30 cookies, SystemDoctor, and C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\UPDATER.EXE

When I go to "Start ", "All Programs ", the following programs are shown with Uninstallers: SystemDoctor2006, DriveCleaner2006, and VirtualGirl2.

Are these bad and if so, should I use their included Uninstaller? Thanks for all your help.

Do not use their uninstallers, just remove via Add\Remove.

I wasn't sure if you installed Virtual Girl, but now that I have looked up what it is, I'm gueesing you don't. I had ovrlooked that yesterday.

Lets do a little fixing and then also run a precautionary check, with those rogues, some are associated with SmithFraud.

Please go to Add/Remove, and if found, uninstall the following:
VirtualGirl

Run HJT, and place a check next to the following lines, then, with all browsers and windows closed, hit 'Fix checked':

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter "; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HJT log file also.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool "; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Quick question TeMerc - See below. Should I download the SmitfraudFix before I boot into Safe mode? I thought I couldn't get to the internet in Safe Mode. Haven't done a lot of this sort of thing so I guess I'm learning on the fly.

OK, lets finish the clean up:

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site. Please follow the instructions exactly in the order listed; this is very important!

Please download, install, and update the free version of Ewido Anti-Malware:

1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu ".
2. When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found! ". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
3. From the main Ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
4. After the update finishes, the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful "
5. Exit Ewido. DO NOT run a scan yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter ".
• Choose your usual account.

Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ? "; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter ".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

AFTER SmitfraudFix finishes (and after a reboot if required), please open Ewido. (If a reboot is required, please boot BACK into Safe Mode.)

• Click on Scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "Remove" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
• When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
• Save the report to your desktop
• Close Ewido

Then please restart it into Normal Windows. Please post the contents of the SmitfraudFix log located at C:\rapport.txt into this thread, along with the Ewido report and a new HijackThis log.

I'm not sure what log that is from, but the Ewido log would look like this:

Tip about logs: Get into the habit of saving them to the same place, even creating a special folder, called simply, 'logs' on your 'C' drive. Makes them real easy to find. Also number them, that helps too. When I do infection testing, I use the name of the site I go to and number them as well, because I usually have more than one of each tool.

But that's ok really, your HJT log appears to be clear at this point. Are there any more problems on this machine at this point?

Thanks for the tips on organizing the logs. I will note that for the future - but hopefully I won't have to do too much of that. The machine seems to be working well now - no popups or weird things happening. Will make sure all the normal maintenance things are done to keep it clean. Thanks so much for all your help.

To further prevent the installation of ad/mal/spyware, DL these apps below, which are just as good the fight against ad/mal/spyware as AdAware & Spybot S&D:

SpywareBlaster
With SpywareBlaster v3.5.1 , just DL, install and check for updates, enable protection Internet Explorer protection, and your done! I don't recommend using IE restricted sites protection as it's not a very large database. Use IE-SPYADs below.

To avoid known malware infested sites from loading in IE install IESPY ADS.
And MVPS Hosts File will accomplish a similar tactic and provide another layer of protection.

And to prevent unknown applications from being inserted to start up on your machine install WinPatrol v9.8.1.0.
