Is it possible to hide drives from view.

the computer I am using has Drive C,D,E and F. What I'd like to do is completely hide Drive G from view. My Drive G is currently setup to run as a swap drive (no files are ever saved or put on this drive).

Now what I'd like to do is hide it so for example when you go into My Computer, it cannot be seen.

Is it possible?? If so, could someone please explain how to do this. I've never been able to figure it out.

    TIA.........

    Hi you can :

    start---run---regedit

    search this:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer]

    create a dword value:

    "NoDrives "=hex:00,00,00,00

    the hex:value is :

    a:-01,00,00,00
    b:-02,00,00,00
    c:-04,00,00,00
    d:-08,00,00,00
    e:-10,00,00,00
    f:-20,00,00,00
    a and c:-05,00,00,00
    d , e and f:-38,00,00,00
    all :-ff,ff,ff,03

    good luck to you

The far simpler - and safer :), method is to use Tweakui XP from MS.

Go to My Computer > Drives in the left hand pane of Tweakui and untick those that you want to hide.

Back in the days of Win98, if you used TweakUI to hide certain drives, the Start menu would be corrupted. So be aware that could happen. I have not tested in WinXP.

    Jim

I have experienced no problems using Tweakui XP with XP, all service packs - must use the right version :)

    PeteC--
The issue I was trying to point out was that in Win98 an unchecked drive letter could corrupt the Start (and other menues) per the MSKB article.
I do not know if the same corruption might occur in WinXP.
In any event, TweakUI can be used to re-check an unchecked drive letter when the corruption occurs, and I assume the user will use the correct version of TweakUI.
