There have been several occasions when I try to hibernate the machine I get a “there are no available resources” error and the hibernate function disappears from the shut down choices. I went and looked at the power settings in the control panel and there is no tab for it. So I just do a plane shut down. When I start up the choice is back in the shut down menu and power selection in the control panel.

My HD is about half full (or empty ;) ) and the hiberfil.sys file corresponds to the amount of RAM I have. Most of the time I close all open programs before I hibernate the machine so I cannot understand why there would be no resources available, does anyone else??

The computer occasionally does not hibernate and you receive an "Insufficient System Resources Exist to Complete the API" error message in Windows XP with Service Pack 2, in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, or in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

    Thanks Steve.

I installed the patch and hibernated a few time OK but can't tell quite yet. Time will tell since when I rebooted it would work for a few days before I'd loose hibernate again.
