Hi All, Mrs. Merlin wants to have video/audio contact with her friends here
and abroad. I have had a look on the net for WebCam specs and prices,
but it is a new subject for me. I would be pleased if someone could
recommend what make/model to buy. Also I do not understand how I would
connect to, say, Peter in Australia. Does the SW to do this come with the
camera ? Or would I need a messaging account eg Yahoo, MSN - are these
    free ?
    regards

On the camera, let your pocket book be your guide! I use a cheap-o one meg dig camera...

Also use Netmeeting that is built into all version of windows. Click on Start->Run and type CONF..

To call Peter in Australia or anyone else for that matter one of the two parties involved must have a static IP address. In netmeeting for example, you type in xx.xxx.xxx.xxx and click Dial. If he's home, he'll accept the call....
