Help -- Java again

I made a search for Java info but found no real answers (that I understood). I'm getting an error that reads:

"The Java Runtimer Environment cannot be loaded
from <bin\hotspot\jvm.dll> "

I checked that folder and the jvm.dll file is NOT there. I've reinstalled j2re-1_4_2_05 2-3 times now and NOTHING!

I checked java setup in Mozilla (1.7.3) and all are properly checked, yet I'm "dead in the water" with this.

I suffered a total HDD crash recently and had to recover from an image file (Aug 04). I remember having some trouble with this around that time but don't remember the fix. My memory just ain't what it used to be (77 yrs behind me now).

There must be a solution to this dilemma.

Hi Bob,

Try this:
Start | Settings | Control Panel | Java
Click on the "Advanced" tab
There is a drop down menu, and if you have use default selected, then select instead, the specific JRE.

Also clear the Cache while you're in the Control Panel.
