I am using a Toshiba laptop, Win 7, Intel Core 2 Duo T6600, 500 GB HD. It's only a year old. Just today I've had lots of problems booting up. (I don't have a back up boot disk - but managed to boot up after multiple tries.) On two occasions I've received message "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" with guidelines on re-booting with disk, etc. While in process of copying files for back up, I have received many messages stating I have "hard disk problems" and should back up everything before the system crashes. I originally thought it was virus related and have finished running long version of Malwarebytes. (nothing found) I am planning on doing the "error checking" tool under "properties for HD" - if I can successfully reboot. Question: Are there any other tools I can access on internet to diagnose and repair this? Does it sound like it is a "configuration" problem - or physical damage. Any input will be appreciated. I don't know if I will be able to get back on line after shutting down - but if so, I'll check back later. Thanks in advance.

I'm currently overseas and will need to obtain black CD tomorrow. Where do I find this Toshiba utility? I see several things installed on the computer, but nothing that seems like it is a diagnostic tool for the HD. Please comment. Thanks.

On the Toshiba site, the URL of which I posted above. Yopu may need the use of another computer to download, etc.

OK, Thanks. Another thing .. I just re-read the message about "Windows is reporting hard drive problems" ... and the desigination for the hard drive is not the same as that listed on "my computer ". (The message refers to MK5055GSX .... while the hard drive on computer is listed as TI102782W0E.) Any comments ? Irrespective of the confusion on designation, I definately have had problems 'booting up' today.

MK5055GSX is a Toshiba hard drive - the only reference I can find to TI102782W0E relates to a designation of the C:\ drive, although the make of computer is not listed.
