Hi, I have a Sony Vaio Desktop running windowsxp home sp3, 512mb ram. I have been having trouble burning CD's for some time now. I use windows media player to do this and I continually recieve a message that states that windows cannot identify a CD and to put in a blank CD, when one has already been put in. After many, many tries sometimes I've had succes. Is there any way I can fix this ? Also, If i put a CD in to install software, it takes a couple times being put in the CD Rom drive before it is recognized! Can anyone please help me with this ? Thanks, Herb

It sounds to me as if the drive has dirty lasers or may possibly be on it's way out.

You could try giving the drive a good blast of canned air through the tray opening or use one of the cleaning disks available.

Thanks Pete C , I think your right. The PC was made in 2001! I'll have to pick up a cleaner or some canned air. Thanks again Pete C, Herb
