I know that I'm suppose to have at least SP1 for windows xp to move past the 137gb cap. Which I do have SP1 & SP2, and tried to run partition magic, the windows's built in drive thing, seagate's CD it came with, etc. I'm now stuck and have no idea what I should be doing next.

I have a Seagate 300gb ATA100 drive as my secondary hard drive, and a Maxtor 160gb as my primary with windows installed to it. There's also a problem that my maxtor is being shown as drive letter K, and my secondary hard drive as C, which all cables are correct too.. Anyways, both my hard drives are capped in at 137gb, and I'm running Windows XP Professional SP1 & SP2.

    Hi,

    Let's have a look:

    1. Click Start > Search, and then click All Files and Folders.
    2. Type Atapi.sys, and then click Search.
    3. If you do not find the Atapi.sys file in your %systemroot%\system32\Drivers folder, click More advanced options in Search Companion, click Search hidden files and folders, and then repeat step 2.
    4. Right-click Atapi.sys in your %systemroot%\System32\Drivers folder, and then click Properties.
    5. Note the file version on the Version tab.

Also, are the drives seen (in full capacity) when you boot up and/or enter the BIOS? A BIOS upgrade may be required.
