It depends...is the old hard drive now installed as a slave drive to your boot drive? Is it listed in the Device manager? Does it have an assigned drive letter? What format is it using? What format is your boot drive using? When did this problem occur? Was it after you did some certain act or installed some particular program? We need much more information.

Most people will ignore your post if you don't give pertinent facts since it takes so long to pump information that they don't have the time to mess with you.

We'll need some of those answers before we can tell you what's possible.

The hard drive is not instaled yet. its just to small, i got a bigger one. it has win 95 with win 98 update on it. my new one has win 98 se, i tried to make cd's of the c drive but a lot of the programs didn't come through. i thought i could just hook it up with my new hard drive i could just drag them into the new hard drive.

You should have no problem plugging the drive in and getting it recognized. You must realize that you cannot copy any installed program from one drive to another and expect it to work. Most programs will need to be reinstalled. You will be able to copy any stand alone programs and any data files you personally create using this method.

The point is, if you're going to have to reinstall those programs anyway, why bother copying them over.

    :)
