It will depend on which point the system stopped booting. If it was before Vista started loading it may be a problem (change) with the Master Boot Records (MBR). If Vista stopped while loading, check for updated motherboard chipset drivers and SATA/RAID drivers. If it happened after log-on it may a file checking program like an antivirus.

"Thanks for posting back "...again :). If you describe what state the computer was in when you returned with the coffee it may help...you...us...and others. Was the computer powered on? Was there any error message? Was it just a blank screen? Blank screen with a flashing cursor? Was it a frozen Windows screen?

The screen was black with the message stating it could not find an operating system. I tried different IDE cables but That did not help it is now on the registering as the secondary master in the bios, so I will be leaving it like that for now
