    didn't work

Hi Mike, I tried your suggestion and that didn't work either LOL. Hopefully WD will have a answer for me sometime today. If the drive is going south i wish it would hurry up LOL. I'll keep trying any suggestion you can come up with. I am going to get another battery for the motherboard tomorrow and try that just in case the one in here is getting weak.
    Thanks again,

    Put Smart back on!

In rereading your message where you installed another HD. Did you boot several times after formatiing and it found it always without fail?

If so then this is more than likely the HD. Make this clear to WD when you try to get the drive replaced.

Please let us know what happens.

    Mike

    Problem Fixed

Hi, I just found out it wasn't the drive going bad. I contacted WD and they replied with a few questions. After I answered them they sent another email with an answer. When I built this computer I jumpered ths HDD as master and it was the only drive on the cable. They said to remove the jumper and that did the trick. I was impressed with their fast responce in trying to solve my problem. I also asked if they knew why the computer worked fine for 8 months before this happened. again thanks to all who replied to my post. Maybe this will help someone out with a similar problem.

    Computers !! LOL

    Hi again,
This is the reply I got fromWD "I wish I could tell you why it worked for 8 months. Technically the drive should have never been recognized by the system. You can see some strange things happen with computers." I've seen my computers do strange things once in a while. Again thanks to all who replied with suggestions I tried them all that I could try. I also appreciated the fast responce from Western Digital.
