Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any idea's about this.
Just bought an ex Demo Acer desktop with XP Media centre on it, 2.8dualcore, 1g ram,250 HDD, tv module, DVD burner etc all worked great
Started up OK firstday and then we loaded our programs on , all ok the we loaded our anti virus AVG , and removed the old expired Norton one , when finish it said to restart you PC, so we OK'd that and when it started up it went to a White screen with Acer on it and it hangs for 80 or 90 seconds then it starts to open XP as normal( black screen logo and moving green blocks) , then it stops and a Rainbow Acer screen appears ( 5sec ), then it opens up as normal. We thought we can put up with that , just for restarts but it now does it when you first start up each time.
Do you think Norton took something with it , I have heard that Norton can cause a fair few headaches. I have been on to Acer and they told me to do a " Restore system to Factory default ". did that twice but still the same.
Other wise it allworks great , once it opens up , really quick .
could it be doing a systems check or such , where can i check that out?
    Any ideas Thanks Des.

    Hi demon,

This is definitely not right. The problems that many people have with Norton/Symantec products is that these programs are resource hogs, taking far too much CPU cycles to do their job.

Uninstall Norton. Install either Avast or AVG in its place. You will not be disappointed with either.
