    First of all I want to thank everyone of you out there for your kind and gracious assistance..you are an incredible bunch.

    I have done as much searching around on the web as I can possibly handle for the time being to find a solutionto this so I figure I would probably get the answer much quicker through you kind folk. (though it looks like it is a bit tougher than I expected...lotta lookers but no answers.........yet)

    I am using a neat little voicemail program called Hanybits-Build 5.4.0.159 by Teknum Systems however when I click on the send button to attach the voice message to my email it comes up with this message. "Error Starting Program "
    The OEMIG50.exe file is linked to missing export ADVAPI32.dllRegOverridePredefKey

    OEMIG50.exe is currently residing in the Outlook Express folder and the ADVAPI32.dll is residing in the Systems folder.

    They are both obviously in the computer but are mismatching or crosslinking somehow.

    And whilst I was searching I came across this site that might prove meaningful to someone.

    Have a great day

    Found this reference and one possible solution:
    http://miataru.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/96106.html

    I'll keep lookin' but as this may be viral I thought I'd throw this out there at ya' so you can confirm or eliminate the possibility.

    =====Back Again=======
    Forgive long windiness/length..... nothing better to do so I may well have over done this one....... Oh well, use what you wish and ignore the rest.
    ====================

    While attempting to form a logical conclusion on what may be the root of the current problem I had to gather a little background knowledge as follows.......

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/1100/Registry/Registry.asp
    Scroll to and read for F.Y.I. the sections entitled:
    Registry API Flavors and New Functions
    Overriding Predefined Keys
    AND please note although this article specicfically refers to win2000 it also makes mention that Windows 98, Windows 95, and Windows NT 4.0 plus {in combination with} Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher—comes with some new functions.........
    The Shell Lightweight library—[known as shlwapi.dll], also available with Windows 98, Windows 95, and Windows NT 4.0 plus Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher—comes with some new functions that internally open and close the specified key when asked to read or write values. You just call SHGetValue or SHSetValue and let the function deal with the registry. In addition, the new API provides a SHDeleteKey function that recursively deletes non-empty keys. As explained earlier, this is the standard behavior in Windows 9x, but not in Windows NT or Windows 2000.

    Now let's look at the elements envolved...........

    Handybits:
    Makes Voicemail attachments for email messages.

    OEMIG50.exe:
    Is migration tools that automatically import your existing mail settings, address book entries, and e-mail messages from Eudora, Netscape, Microsoft Exchange Server, the Windows Inbox, and Outlook to make it easy for you to quickly take advantage of all that Outlook Express has to offer.

    ADVAPI32.DLL RegOverridePredefKey:
    Is an api function for Overriding Predefined Keys in the registry:
    To improve setup programs and, more importantly, their interaction with the rest of the system, Microsoft introduced a new API called RegOverridePredefKey. Its purpose is to temporarily remap one of the registry's root nodes to a user-defined subtree. In this way, a setup program can check—and possibly deny—all the registry settings that an installing component might want to create. Remapping HKCU or HKLM to a temporary key doesn't change anything for the component; it doesn't even realize it is writing to a different key. For all purposes, the remapped key evaluates to the original one. Once the component finishes updating the registry, the setup program can control—and possibly fix—the entries before restoring the original root node and copying the entries from the temporary key to the right place.

    advapi32.dll RegOverridePredefKey is reported missing, Wonder why?, hmmmm...
    Actually missing......maybe, but not likely as you have found it system folder.
    Wrong versions or mismatched versions of IE/OE files....maybe,
    Incomplete install of either IE/OE or Handybits.....maybe,

    Did you try ie's repair function?????
    Perhaps if you rename advapi32.dll and shlwapi.dll and do a repair these will be replaced with a good set.

    Maybe an uninstall/reinstall of Handybits, making sure nothing is running in background [other than explorer and systray] while doing so.

    I assume you have sent an email help request to manufacturer:
    http://www.handybits.com/support.htm

    =Food for Thought============
    ut oh......
    Perhaps a registry glitch from software designed for free to homeowner but a liscence/fee for business use:
    Read coments from users on Dave Central:
    http://www.davecentral.com/projects/handybitseasycryptodeluxe/?topic=105,144

    or this one:
    http://www.net4nowt.com/comments/1018261959,17600,.shtml
    NOTE:
    Caution, this has several times been accused of being "Spyware ", though it may just be an over-agressive auto-update.
    I don't want to rain on the parade, but unless Handybits have been shamed into mending their ways (the updater files also mention possible damage to system if removed) then it's worth curtailing activities with a suitable fitrewall

    =============
    This software does warn that if you pause or possibly have the recorded message open while using the "Send" function you would recieve an error, although they weren't specific on the error:
    http://www.accesstechnologyinstitute.com/handybits/

    Specifically:
    http://www.accesstechnologyinstitute.com/handybits/voicemail.html

    Conclude that since this is an application that runs first and allows the recording of I assume a *.wav or *.mp3 file and either compresses it to an *.exe or *.zip and then opens OE for message compositon and attachment, there may well be a a call to OE using a registry hkey value for a path that is not there.

    A possible workaround may be to save this recording to a dirrectory, close Handybits, open OE and use standard method to attach it to an email. Just a thought........[one of many as you can see :D]
