Take a screen shot of the screen, open it in photo editing software & change the score to whatever you like. :D

Seriously, do you think there would be another way out ?

This is from "What is the Windows Experience Index? ", in Help and Support
What is the current score? You might possibly get 0.1-0.2 by checking all the variables, but if it is 2.5 now, forget it.

I wonder about having a good set of drivers, I suppose they must play a role. Having the latest set of graphics chipset drivers may not be the best. I get mine from the manufacturer of the graphics adapter, not the chipset manufacturer (eg., NVidia, which only make the chipset, not the adapter). I often go back to the drivers supplied with the adapter (graphics card) if I am having any trouble with drivers.

If you suspect the Index might be wrong, you can reset it.

The Windows Experience Index rating may inherit an incorrect value after you make a change to your computer's hardware configuration or you start Windows Vista for the first time
