Google Desktop seems to do a fine job of searching, but does anyone know about its drain on the OS in terms of time and resources ?

Rt-clk taskbar and chose task manager, then the performance tab and note the large spike in CPU use its opening caused. Leave it open. Use alt-tab to switch window to the google "desktop" and do a search. Then alt-tab to task manager and note CPU usage.

Task Manager is VERY interesting to watch. I opened it and then went to IE at msn.com. 65% dropped to 4% after a bit. And of course kept changing along with the pictures.

This site ( windowsbbs.com ) only went to 25% and then down to 1%. It was also fun to watch while opening and closing other things.

WOW !!! I just saw that my Links 2003 ( golf ) goes to 100% and then uses almost constant 40%.
